Guest Spot: Death’s Door

I recently had the opportunity to talk about the game Death's Door as a guest on the Pixel Project Radio podcast hosted by the one and only, Rick Firestone.

Death's Door is an action-adventure game developed by Acid Nerve and published by Devolver Digital. The game follows the story of a crow who works for the Reaping Commission, collecting the souls of the dead. With its challenging combat, beautiful graphics, and engaging storyline, Death's Door has become a popular game among many players.

My brother and Low Five Gaming co-host, Luke, originally recommended the game to me. He played it closer to launch and did so with a mouse and keyboard, which I found to be a bit crazy. After playing it myself, I quickly realized that the game is much better with a controller. Luke is wild!

As a big Zelda fan, I was drawn to Death's Door because it has similar elements to the iconic game series. The puzzles, exploration, and boss battles all reminded me of Zelda games, which made for a pretty rad experience.

While I haven't played any of the Souls games, I understand that Death's Door has many Dark Souls elements. I appreciated the influence, but some of these aspects could be maddening at times. The game's difficulty is certainly a selling point, but it can also be frustrating. Despite this, I thoroughly enjoyed playing Death's Door and discussing it with Rick on Pixel Project Radio. Overall, it's a fantastic game that's definitely worth playing if you're a fan of action-adventure games with a bit of a challenge.
